St. Patrick’s Day is a festive occasion that is celebrated around the world with parades, interesting food, and a lot of fun activities.
Here are some ideas for fun St. Patrick’s Day activities to do with your kids or a partner:
- Dress up in green: Get into the spirit of the day by dressing up in green. You can wear green clothes, hats, jewelry, and accessories. WATCH OUT! If you don’t wear green, you’ll get pinched!
2. Make Irish crafts: Make St. Patrick’s Day crafts with your kids, such as shamrock lacing cards, shamrock garlands, leprechaun hats, or rainbow windsocks.
3. Have a scavenger hunt: Hide gold coins around the house or yard and have a scavenger hunt with clues and riddles.
4. Put your shoes out for the leprechauns: Have your kids put one shoe by the front door because as the leprechauns come inside, they always drop their “gold treats”. (Gold treats are individually wrapped Rolo’s, Twix Bars, or Gold Chocolate Coins).
5. Attend a parade: Many cities have St. Patrick’s Day parades with floats, marching bands, and dancers. Dress up in green and join in the fun.
6. Watch an Irish movie: Watch an Irish-themed movie like “The Quiet Man,” “The Secret of Kells,” or “Song of the Sea.”
7. Learn Irish dance: Take an Irish dance class or watch instructional videos online to learn traditional Irish dances like the jig or reel.
8. Make Irish food: Try making traditional Irish dishes like Irish stew, colcannon, or boxty pancakes.
9. Play Irish games: Play games like Irish bingo, Pin the Shamrock on the Leprechaun or Pass the Potato.
10. Make Saint Patrick’s Day Slime: Slime is easily made with ingredients you most likely already have at your home. Grab some St. Patty’s Day glitter, sequins, and other holiday additions, and you’re all set for a fun activity.
