I know you’ve heard it from many women. When you ask what they do and they say those 4 little words. “I’m just a mom.”
I always feel like shaking them and saying “What do you mean JUST a mom!?”
I have 5 kids and let me tell you the MOM job is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’ve been through a lot of it too. I have kids ages 18-7 right now, so I’ve done the newborn thing, toddler thing, terrible 2’s, questioning kindergartners , overly emotional Jr. Highers and the know it all High Schoolers. And now I’m the mom to a full fledged adult. Where has the time gone?
Next time someone asks what you do, proudly say “I’M A MOM!”
I’m a life giver.
I’m a healer.
I’m a hug giver.
I’m a cook and a baker.
I’m a personal assistant.
I’m a chauffeur.
I’m a safe place.
I’m a judge.
I’m a caregiver.
I’m a maid.
I’m a decorator.
I’m a health coach.
I’m a life coach.
I’m a coach coach.
I’m a therapist.
I’m a mediator.
I’m a creator.
I’m a teacher.
And I do it all with sweat on my brow, a sore back, circles under my eyes, and going on day 3 of no shower.
But I also do it with a happy heart, gratitude and a love that no one can ever understand unless they have been through the same things I have. A love so pure that only Heavenly Father’s love can surpass it.
I do it with help from my own mother, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, best friends and neighbors. All women who play a motherly role in my children’s lives. All women are mothers in my eyes.
So today I say HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all the women who have touched my life, my children’s lives, my husbands lives. We are all a little better because we knew you.
This is one of my favorite motivators when I’m feeling like this job is just too hard:
