The productions at Hale Centre Theatre are amazing. Literally breath taking. The theater and stage are amazing. It’s a circle theater with the most state of the art stage. The seats are very comfortable and you can lift the arm rests up if you are on a date and want to hold someones hand. The seats are stadium seating and give you the best visibility from every single seat. They made sure there were many bathroom stalls in this location so you can get in and out in no time during intermission.
The neat thing about the Sandy location is that they can have two shows going on at the same time. 901 seats in the circle theater and 467 in the Jewel Box Theater. They call it the Jewel Box theater because of the ruby red seats and the beautiful “diamond” lighting.
Hale Centre Theatre in Sandy, Utah has a large parking garage for convenience too. If the weather is bad you won’t have any problems getting in or out of the theater.
It was a lot of fun going back stage and seeing all the hard work that goes into a production like this. I have been a performer for most of my life, so I had a pretty good idea of what it was like, but I was blown away with the costume room and the mechanics of the stage.
The stage is made by the Tate Engineering Company from England. It is the most state of the art stage in the world right now because they used all the latest technology while building it. While watching “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” I really felt like we were in the tower with Quasimodo. I was actually scared a few times as he jumped up on the ledge for fear that he would fall! Since it’s a round stage I felt like I was a part of the play. Watching things move around, raise and lower. I especially loved the effects that were behind us. Large panels that would display stained glass windows or fire. It was beautiful and amazing.
Everything that goes into a production at Hale Centre Theatre is of the highest quality and completely made in house. Their sets, costumes and wigs are all made by local artists. I was so impressed.
I really want to buy season tickets for my family so we can visit Hale Centre Theatre as often as possible. I would suggest for you to read about each play and see the recommended ages for each show. I was glad that my 7 year old wasn’t with us that night. “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” was very intense and had mature topics that would confuse him.
Overall I was seriously impressed and loved every minute of the tour. If you have a chance at all to go and see a show there, I would highly recommend it.
