When my kids are home all summer long, they eat me out of house and home. I think the heat, swimming and playing with friends builds up a great appetite.
That’s why I try and turn to high-protein, kid friendly snacks.
I love snacks packed with protein because it keeps their tummies full longer and it helps them build all those muscles they need playing hard. I was so happy when SunButter® asked me if I’d share some recipes with you because I absolutely love feeding my kids SunButter.
We don’t have peanut allergies in our home, but if you do have nut allergies in your home, SunButter is the way to go. It’s made with sunflower seeds and is free of the top 8 food allergens, including peanuts, tree nuts and soy. Plus, and it tastes amazing. I love peanut butter, but I prefer SunButter in a lot of my recipes because it actually gives them a more nutty flavor. It’s amazing and I know your kids will love it as much as my kids do.
I created a video showing just how quick and easy these snacks are for kids.
My kids can make most of these on their own. I just help with the cutting. When I filmed this video, we had 3 of my kids, 2 of my kids friends, and my one year old niece hovering over me waiting to “taste test” these creations. They all loved them. They helped me out by watching the camera to make sure that it was still recording. Sometimes it likes to stop the recording for no reason at all. We had to do a double take for the Banana Roll Up’s which made a double batch. The kids were NOT disappointed about that. They were happy with the double batch.
So let’s get on with the facts. Why do I love SunButter so much? Look at the nutritional facts. There is no polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fat in SunButter. It contains 7 grams of protein, 2% calcium, 8% iron, 4% potassium and 2 grams of fiber. Plus, SunButter packs in more micronutrients, like magnesium, Vitamin E, zinc and iron, than traditional nut butters (including peanut butter and almond butter).
And did I mention, SunButter is processed in a facility that is free from the top 8 allergens? SunButter is available at traditional grocery retailers nationwide and can be found soon at local buying clubs around Utah! You can learn more about it at SunButter.com.
Now on to the super simple snack recipes. I’m not even going to list these as written recipes because they are so easy. Most of them just two ingredients and they are made with stuff I bet you already have in your kitchen. I’m all about easy.
