It’s January, and you know what that means! You feel horrible about all the treats, candy and desserts you ate over the holidays. And if you are anything like me, you slacked on your workouts too! Well, I’m getting myself back to the gym this month and I was in desperate need of a change. I needed motivation. I needed a plan. So I came up with one and I’m going to share it with you now.
As a busy mom I really don’t have time to spend hours at the gym or at home working out. It’s just not in my lifestyle. I’m not a gym rat. But I do know that I feel better when I work out. I’m happier, and even though I don’t workout hard or long enough to look like a ripped super model, I think it’s something that needs to be a priority. Especially if you are a mom. You owe it to your kids to stay healthy so you can be around for a very long time.
One of the things that I had to change in my life to get myself to start exercising was to join a gym. I had to have a responsibility to something. And that something was the monthly fee I was paying. I feel guilty if I’m not using something I’m paying for, so that’s one thing that motivates me to go. Once I’m there, I’m so happy I’m there. I feel so good after working out. I’m happier throughout the day and I sleep better at night.
So let’s talk about gyms. Not all gyms are created equal.
I am an overweight 40 something mom. I am not meant for a meat head gym. I’m not comfortable around people grunting, moaning, and throwing weights on the floor. I’m just not. It’s weird to me. And I think I was starting to offend some people by the way I was looking at them when they acted like that. Ha Ha~

Now, once you get to the gym, what do you do? You only have about an hour before you have to run home and get the kids ready for school. Well, I’m here to help. I’ve been going to the gym with a busy schedule for about 2 years and I’ve figured out just about how much I can get done in about an hour. I’ve broken them down into 6 workouts ( I know I said 5, but I wanted to include Saturday too!) and I’m sharing them with you here.
You can take a screen shot of these on your phone so you can have them handy when you head to the gym. Let’s get started!
Enjoy Your Workouts!

This is my big plan for this week, to get a workout routine set up. I do a great tape called Callanetics but I want to incorporate more strength training. The only problem is that this busy mother does have time for a gym. Anyway, I am planning to do more body weight exercises like push ups, planks, etc. Time to slow the aging process!
