There’s nothing like a busy weekday with kids running in and out of the house, getting homework done and the toddler pulling on your leg. It’s those days when I always say “Why do I have to make dinner EVERY night!”. Sometimes you just need something easy and quick but something that will still satisfy your teenage son. That’s where Sloppy Joe’s come in. They are quick and easy and the kids LOVE them!
This recipe is so easy to make and I’d bet that you have the ingredients in your kitchen right now. Just a few ingredients and you have dinner on the table. We serve these with our homemade Cajun Fries and homemade or bakery bought rolls. Those rolls really do make a difference!
This is what you’ll need to make these Easy Homemade Sloppy Joe’s:
Easy Homemade Sloppy Joe’s
- 2 pounds hamburger
- 1/2 Onion diced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
- 3 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 3 Tablespoons Barbecue Sauce
- 2 Tablespoons Mustard
- 1 cup Ketchup
- Homemade or Bakery Rolls
In a large skillet over medium high heat cook the onions, salt, and hamburger until browned all the way through. Breaking up the hamburger as it cooks. Add the barbecue sauce, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar and garlic powder to the hamburger.
Cook until hot and bubbly and thick.
Cut your rolls in half and fill with the meat mixture. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
Serve with Cajun Fries and Salad if desired!
