I really do enjoy sharing my home with guests. When we lived farther away from family, we actually got more visitors than we do now that we live close to family. But we still have the occasional dinner party or family gathering at our house. The only thing that stresses me out about company is how clean my house is. I’ve learned a few tips and tricks on how to get your home clean quickly when you know guests are coming over. Especially since I have 5 kids to help me with the work now.
I don’t know about you, but when the floor is dirty and full of clutter, a house looks messy to me. Cleaning the floors is the first thing I do when I am getting ready for guests. And you guys are NOT going to believe it, but I found the PERFECT vacuum. It’s called the Hoover Air Cordless Lift, and guess why I love it so much? IT’S CORDLESS!!!! Speed Cleaning Checklist for Holiday Parties
Notice that we spend a lot of time in the Kitchen, Living Room, and Bathroom. Those are the 3 main areas where your guests will be spending most of their time while they are at your house. So focus on those the most when you have about an hour before everyone shows up. You know your kids have already undone everything you’ve already done, so you’ll have to make one last sweep through the house taking care of the little details right before the guests arrive.
The most important tip I can give you though, is to enjoy your company. The best host talks to her guests and enjoys her time with them, so once the guests arrive, just sit back and relax and have a fun time. I’d even suggest having a “NO PHONES” party so everyone can focus on the people around them. Make a fun basket for them to drop their phones in on the way into the living room. I’ve even made a cute printable for you to attach to your basket too.
