Vanilla School Spirit Popcorn for School Parties

09/17/15 | Desserts and Treats, Holidays, Kids, Recipes, Sports, Teens

Vanilla School Spirit Popcorn

I am a cheer mom, which means I’m in charge of all the parties they have. I love my kids schools and definitely have school spirit. This year we had a fun “Poster Painting Party” and I needed to bring something yummy to eat.

The posters they make at the poster party are used for the football players to run through on their way out onto the field after halftime to give the players that extra boost they need to win.

I wanted to make something fun with the school colors which are red and white, so I came up with this really easy Vanilla Popcorn recipe. You’ll die when you see how easy it is to make.

Vanilla School Spirit Popcorn

I headed to Walmart and bought these Candy BonBon Pearls. I decided not to use the white pearls because the popcorn was white, but you could use your school colors. They sell these cute pearls in all different colors down the cake decorating isle. Or you can purchase them on Amazon (affiliate link). Then all I used for the vanilla, was Almond Bark (affiliate link).

School Spirit Vanilla Popcorn

  • 2 bags popped microwave popcorn
  • 12 oz Almond Bark
  • Candy Pearls or other colored candy

Pop the two bags of popcorn and remove the un-popped kernels by opening a very small hole in the top of the bag and shaking it upside down over the garbage so the kernels fall to the bottom and out the hole. Add the popcorn to a large bowl. Melt the Almond Bark according to package directions and pour over the popcorn and stir to coat. Now before the almond bark dries, sprinkle the colored candies over the popcorn so it will stick to the wet almond bark. Stir. Then spread the popcorn on a cookie sheet to dry. When dry, break apart and add back to the serving bowl. Enjoy!
