Every summer my kids head off to camp. Preparing them for camp takes a whole day if not a couple of days.
There is a plethora of things the kids need to bring with them and it’s inevitable that something will get lost while they are at camp. So I have some tips for you on what really needs to be packed for them and how to keep track of every little thing while they are gone.
I’m going to be focusing on Girls Camp since I have two girls that will be leaving at the end of the month for Girls Camp. Packing for girls is a lot different than packing for boys. The girls require a few more things than boys do. A lot of little odds and ends that can get lost easily, so I make sure everything is labeled. Which brings me to my number one tip. MAKE SURE YOU LABEL EVERYTHING!
As a Youth Leader, I know how many things come back from camp in my car because no one knows who’s stuff it it. This is why it’s so important to label everything!
Even your towels and washcloths. I love to use Mabel’s Labels to label my kids belongings for camp. The labels are customizable. You can choose from a bunch of cute different clip art and colors. The labels are also UV resistant, laundry safe, waterproof, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe so they will last through almost anything. Have you ever heard of anything more awesome! No more sharpies ruining everything!
We put some stickers on my daughters flip flops already to test them out and they are still holding strong and look like new, even with her dirty feet! The labels are vinyl so they are almost impossible to tear.
We chose the Limited Edition Camp Label Camp Pack. My daughter loves purple and she loves teddy bears, so the obvious choice were these cute teddy bear labels.
One thing that I think a lot of girls and parents don’t think about is menstrual needs.
It’s always a good idea to pack some pads or tampons in their bags just in case. We love to use Dollar Maxi Pad Club’s pads because they send them to us every month so we never run out. Their pads also have an Activated Charcoal Strip that naturally absorbs odors and can help alleviate cramping. Learn more about these pads HERE. They also sell a first period pack for tween girls and a pamper me package to help lift spirits during that sucky time of the month.
So now that we have our labels, we are ready to decide what to pack.
Here is my list of things to pack for Girls Camp. You can save it and print it so you can check off the boxes as you go. Just right click on the packing list and choose “Save Image As”. Then save to your computer and print it through your printer. Easy Peasy!
This is a Church Youth Group, so we have included scriptures, journals and a camp manual. But you can use this list for a Non-Church group instead.

Oh how cool. I love this – as I hate writing on things w/Sharpie. I’ll have to check them out since my oldest is heading to camp next month! They are so cute and that’s awesome they are staying on her flip flops even!
