I think you’ve heard me say before how much I love Spring. It is definitely my favorite season of the year. Soccer season starts up again and the family and I get outside and start playing in the fresh air. But, alas, life has gotten busy and sometimes I forget to get outside and play with the kids. So I’ve created this Spring Bucket List to get us up and doing things together. I thought you might like it too, so I’ve joined Dairy Queen and Oreo to bring you the 2015 Spring Bucket List.

Why Dairy Queen you ask? Well, when I was little, my dad would take my sister and I to Dairy Queen at least once a week for a treat after dinner. It was at least a mile away so we got to walk off some of the calories we consumed. I would always get an Oreo Blizzard or a Peanut Buster Bar. If I was really lucky, I’d get a Peanut Buster Parfait. This tradition would always start after winter when the warm spring air came back. It’s one of my fondest memories. Dairy Queen is the place where I tried dipping my fries in ice cream for the first time. Sounds yucky to you? Well don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it!
This April, Dairy Queen is celebrating its 75th “Fanniversary” highlighting its Oreo Blizzard treat and is asking America to #GetUpsideDown. If you are not served your Blizzard upside down then it’s free on your next visit! You’re kids will think it’s so funny! Dairy Queen invites you to test the DQ employees’ flip skills throughout the month. Did you know that Dairy Queen invented soft serve which eventually led to the thick and creamy Blizzard treat?
Now that the weather is getting warmer, why not head over to Diary Queen and check off the last item on your bucket list? I’ve realized that the only time my kids have a long conversation with me is when we are sitting down to have a treat. They are glued to their seats until they are done. It’s the perfect bonding moment.
The Oreo Blizzard is one of Dairy Queens best selling Blizzard treats of all time, and it’s my favorite Blizzard. You need to try the Oreo Blizzard on your visit with the kids.
I wanted to tell the kids about this tradition we had with my dad, so we piled the kids in the car and headed to Dairy Queen. I ordered the small Oreo and my son ordered the Peanut Butter Cup.
My other son just wanted one of their classic cones. They are the best ice cream cones in my opinion. I love the little swirl on the top. The kids thought it was so fun that they served the Blizzard to us upside down. My son asked me “Why do they do that mom?” and I answered him saying “Because they want you to know how thick their ice cream is.” Then he said “Oooooh! It really is thick and creamy mom!” Ha Ha!

We went to our DQ to get one and they didn’t give it upside down. When we asked them about it, they rolled their eyes and said they weren’t doing it. Lame. I was excited to get my ice cream upside down!

That is so awesome! I’ll definitely have to go to Dairy Queen now. I remember going there in high school and getting the oreo shakes. I loved them! Brings back so many memories. Now I just want mine upside down. 😉

I loved getting Blizzards when I was a teen and being able to hold it upside down. Then they stopped making them so thick. I think I will try them again.
I love making Spring and Summer bucket lists! Thanks for the new ideas.

That’s funny! We went to Dairy Queen on Friday night and got ours upside down and we thought it was so weird. Now we know why!
