I have a very handy husband. I swear he can fix anything and everything. It all stems from a very creative mind while growing up. He was always taking apart things and putting them back together again. I always rely on him for fixing everything around the house. Including flat bike and stroller tires. Now he is passing these talents on to our kids. My oldest son can jump in and help out when dad isn’t home. He was fixing my flat jogging stroller tire and I wanted to document it so I could remember how to do it myself. I thought maybe you’d want to know too! So here is how to fix a flat jogging stroller tire.
Start off by removing the tire from the stroller. Then take the tire off of the wheel. And remove the inner tube from the tire and fill up with air. Fill your kitchen sink with water enough to cover the top of the inner tube. Put the inner tube in the water and start squeezing it under the water so you can see where the puncture is. You’ll see bubbles coming up from the puncture.
Use a pen to circle the puncture so you can find it later.
Dry off the inner tube and get out the tire repair kit. We like using the Bell Stopper 500. It includes 20 Glue-Less patches, a metal scuffer and 3 tire levers.
Using the metal scuffer, scuff up the area around the puncture.
Now add the patch sticker.
Then really make sure it’s on there tight by using a scraper.
Now the puncture should be fixed. Now you need to put the inner tube back in the tire.
Add the tire back to the wheel by using the tire levers.
Now pump up the tire and you’re set!
Add back to your stroller before use though 😉
Happy jogging!

This is a really comprehensive guide on how to change a flat stroller tire. The other day I was jogging with my kid in the stroller and we got a flat tire. We changed the tire similarly with the process shown above. I also wonder if this helps with car tires as well.

Your instructions are easy to follow, I used them once already. Hi, I can’t find another place to put this tip, and since I am not a blogger, I don’t have one of my own. I own a phil and teds sport stroller that I’ve been using for a few years now, but the wheels were bent. I was unable to find any instructions on how to fix my plastic rim myself, and I know that most of the phil and teds (dash, classic, etc) are the same way, and so are the mountain buggys. I think others can benefit from this!
They have plastic wheels that are relatively poor quality. I had two bent rear wheels, so the tubes were coming off a little and the stroller was wobbly and hard to push. Definitely not safe for jogging, and not great for just pushing around the mall either. Problem is, the replacements can only be purchased from phil and teds, and they are NOT cheap. I decided I had nothing to lose, and tried to just fix them. I ended up removing the tubes and the tires, and then using a hair dryer to heat the plastic until it was bendable with pliers. I did this a little at a time until the wheels were almost perfectly straight (from what I can tell, they are perfect, but I’m sure they’re still just a little off as I’m not perfect lol.) I put the tubes and tires back on once they were cooled, and I haven’t had problems since. I read the phil and teds replacement wheels reviews, and I know that I am not the one with this same issue. I tried posting these instructions in a comment to a person having the same problem, but phil and teds have removed the comment from their website (guess they’ll make less money if people realize they can fix their old wheels themselves.) Hopefully you can leave this up so that others can benefit from this and save the $150 it costs to purchase new plastic wheels.
