My daughters are really starting to get picky about what they will and won’t wear. This is a problem for me because I really like to go to Yard Sales. I find cute clothes for them that fit them and they won’t wear them. Like these cute capri pants I bought my daughter. “No one wears Capri Pants anymore mom!” is what she said to me. I said “I don’t care, you’re wearing them!” So they went in her drawer for months, until I decided to turn them into Bermuda Shorts. I’ll show you how I did that below.
I am such a lucky mom to have daughters that like to dress modestly too. They will not wear the short shorts that are sold in the stores. Only when we can find Bermuda Shorts, will they wear them. Those are really hard to find though, so this is a great option for those of you who have a hard time finding Bermuda Shorts in the stores around you. You can also turn their jeans into Bermuda Shorts!
Here is how I did it.
1. I had my daughter put on the capri pants, marked a line (with a pen) an inch below where I wanted the shorts to end.
2. Cut the capri pants off straight across where the line is:
3. Folded the pants in half and cut the other leg to match:
4. Turn the shorts inside out:
5. Fold an inch or smaller seam and finger press by running your finger over the fold. Start sewing from the inside seam of the leg:
6. Sew all the way around the leg starting and ending with 3 stitches and reversing 3 stitches to create a “knot”. Turn the shorts right side out and you’re done!
So easy and it will save you a lot of money too!
