DIY Monogram Plaque for Home Decor

06/06/14 | Crafts, Gift Ideas, Gifts, Home Decor, How To

I’m not the best designer out there by far, but I love to add accents to my home that mean something. Using the initial of our last name is important to me because I’m proud of my husbands heritage.

Also, it’s a B so my kids don’t always have to be in the back of the line at school like I was 😉 My maiden name starts with a W. I was always second to last. A girl with a Z last name was always behind me, poor girl.

Any-who! I just love this monogram project from Michaels Craft Stores. All you have to buy is 3 pieces, paint and glue. So inexpensive and I love how it turned out. No, the colors don’t even match my home decor, but I love the colors I painted them and I still display it proudly on my end table.

This plaque would be so cute as a wedding gift or on your baby’s nursery wall with their first initial. You’re kids would love to make one for their rooms too. They are so easy to make, they could do it almost all on their own, with the exception of the hot glue gun.

This is what you’ll need. Like I said I found these at Michaels Craft Stores. They have different shapes to choose from too!

Base+ Swirl design+ Letter= love!

Like I said, choose 2 paint colors, paint the base and the letter the same color and the swirl a coordinating color. Use hot glue to put them together and you’re done! So easy!

This would be fun hung from a door or on a wall too! I just used a little cheap plate easel to hold mine for my end table. I love it!

What colors are you going to paint yours?
