Breakfast for my kids usually consists of cold cereal or left over pancakes from Sunday. I’m not a morning person, so they are usually up and eating before I even open my eyes. I’m usually concerned about them getting the nutrients they need in the morning. I’ve discovered Carnation Breakfast Essentials at Wal-Mart and my kids really love it! I wanted to make a great tasting smoothie recipe for them that included the Carnation Breakfast Essentials drink mix so they could get the added vitamins and nutrients that are included in the drink mix. So, the Healthy Breakfast Orange Julius was born!
It’s such a simple recipe too. So easy for your older kids to make using a blender. All you need is:
- One envelope Carnation Breakfast Essentials Vanilla Powder Drink Mix
- 1/4 can Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate
- 1 cup Milk
- 3-4 Ice cubes
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla (optional)
Add the milk, orange juice concentrate, Carnation Breakfast Essentials drink mix, ice cubes and vanilla to a blender and blend until smooth. Add more orange juice concentrate to taste. Serve right away.
So easy, healthy and fast! It’s really yummy too! You’re kids will think you are giving them treats for breakfast! You can get some Carnation Breakfast Essentials for yourself with this Wal-Mart Coupon too! Carnation also makes some really good breakfast bars, powders and drink shakes and it’s nutritious for kids, teens and adults.
Carnation Breakfast Essentials® Powder provides the following nutritional benefits:
o 21 Vitamins & Minerals
o 13g of Protein

I chose to use the vanilla version, but it comes in a variety of flavors, like Rich Milk Chocolate, Classic French Vanilla, Classic Chocolate Malt, Dark Chocolate, Strawberry Sensation, and the Variety Pack (which has multiple flavors for you to choose from), so you can come up with your own smoothie recipe.
You can find more smoothie recipes here too!
Check out Carnation Breakfast Essentials on Facebook for more great information.
I also tried out the Pinia Colada recipe. It was so good! Perfect for summer breakfasts or snacks.
