Is this the same recipe you used on the Christmas tree cookies? do they keep their shape when cooking? I’m trying to find a good sugar cookie recipe for cut outs but I don’t want them to taste like biscuits with all the flour lol. Thanks!

Yes it’s the same recipe and I like it a lot. But they are a bit dry compared to drop cookies because of the frosting used for them.

This tip to roll out sugar cookies DOES NOT work with the cookie recipe above. The recipe above is VERY sticky and would need TONS of flour to roll out.

Colleen are you sure you are using parchment paper and not wax paper? I have never had anything stick to parchment paper. Also, did you refrigerate the dough first?
Colleen says
Yes, I was using parchment paper, and the dough had been refrigerated overnight. And after re-reading the recipe above, it does say that the dough is very sticky and you’ll need TONS of flour to roll out the dough. So, I’m confused as to why it would work with just parchment paper?
tipsfromamom says
The recipe for that dough was written way before I did the tutorial on how to use parchment paper to roll out sugar cookie dough. That’s why it says you need tons of flour to roll it out. But it worked for me to use parchment paper instead of the TON of flour. Maybe you live in a more humid place than I do. Try adding a 1/4 cup more flour to the dough next time and see if that helps. Sorry about your troubles.
