Cotton Candy Rice Crispy Treats

06/29/13 | Desserts and Treats, Kids, Recipes

Who doesn’t love Cotton Candy!? I mean really! The way it melts in your mouth and turns your tongue colors!  It’s the best!Cotton Candy is becoming the new trend in dessert recipes.  And for a good reason.  It’s so yummy and it reminds you of your childhood.

This recipe is SO easy!  Have you ever heard of Frosting Creations?  You haven’t!  Well you can find them on the top shelf of your grocery store right in there with the canned frostings.  They are little packets of flavoring, and guess what?  They have a Cotton Candy Flavor!  YES!

So here is how you do it…

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 10 oz bag mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups crisped rice cereal
  • 1 package (or 2 if you want it more flavorful and more blue)
  • Blue food coloring (if you want it more blue than mine, I also added too much cereal, so if you add less than me, you’ll be good with the color 🙂

In a non stick large stock pot, melt the butter on low.  Add the marshmallows and stir constantly until melted and smooth.  Remove from heat and stir in the Cotton Candy flavoring packet(s) and a few drops of blue food coloring if desired until well blended.  Add the cereal and mix well.  Add to a buttered cake pan (9×13) and press down using wax paper.  Let cool and then try not to eat the whole pan yourself!

Rice Krispies are not “puffed rice”. They are crisped rice.
