How To Make a Graduation Candy Lei

My son is graduating in a few weeks and I’m freaking out! How did I and he get so old? Time really does fly. This is my cute niece who agreed to be my model for the pictures. She is graduating from the same school as my son. So much fun!

I’ve secretly been waiting for my son to graduate because I’ve always wanted to have an excuse to make a candy lei. They are so easy and I love how fun they are. So today I’m going to show you just how easy it is to make a Graduation Candy Lei.

Wouldn’t you love this as a Mother’s Day present too? I know I would love to wear a candy necklace to church on Mother’s Day. How funny!

I’m sure you already know, but make sure you ask what the graduate’s favorite candy is before you head to the store. No one wants a lei made out of candy that they don’t like. We made my son’s lei’s out of Starbursts and Gummy Worms. I’ll be making more and I think I’ll make those out of snack-sized Twix and Snickers.

Now, let’s get on with it. It’s so easy you’re going to die. Well, OK maybe not die, but you’ll be surprised.

Graduation Candy Lei

What you’ll need:

• large bags of the graduate’s favorite candy
• plastic wrap
• wrapping ribbon
• scissors

1. Cut a line of plastic wrap about 50 inches long.
2. Place the candy on the edge of the plastic wrap going down the long way.
3. Leave a space in between each candy. This is where the ribbon will tie.
4. Roll up the candy in the plastic wrap the long way.
5. Cut the ribbon into 5-7 inch pieces (depending on how much leftover you want to curl).
6. Tie the ribbon in a knot around each blank spot where there is no candy.
7. Put the two ends together and tie them in a knot also.
8. Curl the ribbon with scissors and you are done.
