Keeping Christ in Christmas is very important to me. I am so blessed to have the knowledge that Christ lives and the Atonement is for all of us.
I owe everything to Him and the least I can do is keep the true spirit of Christmas in my home during the year and especially during the Christmas season. My children have drawings of Christ in their rooms and we talk about him all year long. We strive to read our scriptures and pray daily. We try to be examples of Him in our daily lives all year round.
I want to share with you some of the things we do as a family to keep Christ in Christmas during the Holiday Season.
And I thought it would be fun to make a printable for our home that is all about Him instead of the commercialized Christmas. Do you want one too? Well, glad you asked, here you go!
1. Some of the things we do in December to keep Christ in Christmas is get out our 25 days of Christ ornaments.
These are amazing! It is created from resources from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, most of the scriptures are from the Bible. They have an ornament for each day in December. You put the one for the day in a gold bag (provided in the kit) then let a family member pull the ornament out and read the corresponding story and scripture for the day. Then put the ornament on the tree or a special display you’ve made for them.
2. Of course we have a Christmas Tree and open gifts, but one thing we really like to do is take the money we would spend on siblings and buy gifts for Toys for Tots.
We take the first Monday night of December and head to the store and do this for Family Home Evening. The kids love choosing something for a child in need and dropping them in the box for those kids.
3. We always read “When Jesus was born in Bethlehem” every Christmas Eve.
It’s filled with beautiful art from Joseph Brickey and the bible scriptures of the birth of Christ. Simple and perfect. Always brings tears. You HAVE to get this book. I promise you’ll love it as much as I do.
