DIY PVC Pipe Skateboard and Scooter Storage Rack for the Garage

I don’t know about you, but it’s really hard to walk through my garage when there are skateboards and scooters thrown all over the ground. It’s actually really dangerous when you are carrying  way too many groceries in your hands and can’t even see the floor.

So my hubby (the brilliant man that he is) made up an easy wall storage rack that everyone can make for themselves. I love him, he’s a stud!

Here’s what you’ll need:

-One length of 1″ PVC Pipe (10 feet)
-4- Long Drywall Screws
-2- 3/4 inch Steel Pipe Straps
-PVC Pipe Cement (Red Hot Blue Glue is the BEST!)
-2- 1″ PVC Pipe Elbows
-8- 1″ T Joints
-PVC Pipe Cutter

Step One: Cut your PVC Pipe into:
-8- 12 inch pieces
-2- 6 inch pieces
-9- 1 inch pieces

Step Two: Cement using Red Hot Blue Glue (no substitutions, the glue pictured above did NOT work) one 6 inch piece into one end of one of the elbow joint. Repeat with the other 6 inch piece and joint.

Step Three: Cement one of the 1 inch pieces into the other end of one of the elbow joints.

Step Four: Cement all the T joints together using the 1 inch pieces. Make sure all the T joints are on the same angle. Add a 1 inch piece to each end of the T joints so you can attach the elbows.

NOW THIS IS IMPORTANT!

Step Five: Cement the elbow into each end of the 1 inch pipe coming out from the T joint. MAKE SURE YOU CEMENT THE PIPES AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE AS SEEN IN THE IMAGE BELOW:

Let the rack dry completely then attach it to the wall with the Steel Pipe Straps and Screws. MAKE SURE YOU SCREW THE SCREWS INTO A STUD SO IT CAN HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THE SKATE BOARDS AND SCOOTERS.

Hang the skateboards and scooters like you see below with the wheels hanging.

I hope these storage racks help you get some of those tripping hazards off the floor!

Hi, can you clarify the pvc pipe dimensions? That looks like 1/2″ pipe to me. Thanks and thanks for the idea!
