Thank You Bank: A Year Round Tradition ~ Project Gratitude

11/19/13 | Holidays, Kids Crafts and Coloring, Thanksgiving, traditions

I hope you are enjoying Project Gratitude as much as I am. I am getting so many great ideas for the Thanksgiving season.

Today is another great idea for keeping our families thinking thankful thoughts all year round, then sharing them all on Thanksgiving. What a great idea from Alli from Diapers-n-Heels. Please be sure to check out her blog and follow her on social media. I’m so thankful for all these amazing guest bloggers!

Hi there, I’m Alli from Diapers-n-Heels. I’m so excited to be over at Tips from a Typical mom sharing how our family shows gratitude throughout the year.

We have this cute little Thank you Bank that we use like a piggy bank.

Thank-You-Bank-1
My children are still fairly little and aren’t able to write themselves, but that hasn’t stopped us from teaching them gratitude. My husband and I both feel strongly about our children know how to giving thanks and feeling gratitude.

Whether its in the morning as we’re sitting in the kitchen eating breakfast or our the dinner table in the evenings we ask the kids about their day and what were some of their favorite things that happened during the day.

We ask talk about kindness and friends and love. Our four year old is now able to talk a lot more and so together we pick a few items we think should be in the Thank You Bank.
  Thank-You-Bank-4

We like to write out our thanks and then on the back write the date. Then we bank the thank you!
  Thank-You-Bank-2

We keep our bank right as you walk into our kitchen. We find that with it being in the kitchen (the most popular room in our house) that it isn’t out of site and out of mind. A daily reminder to give thanks.

We also encourage guests at our house to feel free to add to our bank because the more gratitude going around the better! Then on Thanksgiving each year we read out loud all the thanks from throughout the year.

It warms your heart hearing about some small things as well as big things that happen throughout the year that you may have forgotten about. Then you start collecting for next year starting the day after Thanksgiving. Fun Family Tradition.

I have the DIY instructions on how to build your own Thank You Bank over on Diapers-n-Heels.
